When hired to develop costume designs for a jewelry editorial for L’Officiel magazine, artists Alexandra Zaharova & Ilya Plotnikov delivered an idea more enthralling than the jewelry it was intended to promote. Their Paper Sculpture designs framed the model in pure, geometric white fashions with a bold black tie front-and-center. After a glance at all nine of the images, focusing on the jewelry is certainly the hard part. Working with the firm forms of paper is not new to the team of Zaharova and Plotnikov, as their portfolio is rich with paper-styled designs....

Beginning in France sometime in the 12th century and making its way through much of Europe in the middle ages, Gothic architecture is marked by long, slim columns that reach heavenward, with long windows built into it. It evolved largely out of Romanesque architecture, which prized high-reaching buildings with many windows. The difference in Gothic when compared with buildings from the Holy Roman Empire is that Roman buildings used rounded arches, which necessitated huge columns to help hold them....
The StreetDome Skate Park Denmark is named for the grand igloo-inspired dome in its center. This houses the indoor portion of the skate park and the bouldering/climbing wall that reaches to its peak. Half of its roof is covered in skylights, allowing daylight in to the interior for passive lighting. As guests enter, they’re met with a wild, angular climbing wall and an empty pool for skateboarding, comprising a visually exciting environment....
